i have decided that this years summer shoes are to be sustainable, environmentally friendly wooden shoes. not the classic swedish slip-in ones (which my favourite person in the world can't stand), but a pair with a bit more class - and there are two possibilities:
a) swedish hasbeens. i already wrote about them last year, but i never managed to get a pair. this year they have a new collection of adorable superhigh peeptoes, which look fantastic. and they are being sold in a store in karlstad where i'll be sometime during fabruary/march so i'll at least go and try them on.
b) mohop shoes. they don't have this 70s-feeling as the swedish hasbeens, but they look so much fun anyways! you get five pairs of ribbons with your purchase, and depending on your mood and clothes you can really easily remove the ribbons and put other ones in. if the five sets of ribbons are not enough you can always get more.
the best thing with both is that they will last really long (basically a lifetime) if you treat them well and they are handcrafted locally (and not somewhere in the far east).
both pictures are borrowed from the companies' homepages.

I like thoose shoes!
Mohop shoes, definitely!
Great choice of shoes... I love wooden heels.
Yes. Mohops. They're cool. The others look like clogs, and we all know that clogs are the cause of both famine and wars.
Kram
You're right...this summer should be ecological!
@ glamour-och-fläskpannkaka: yes, i like them too. it's so hard to decide!
@ malin: thanks for the vote!
@ nadine: yes, i know. though, every time i'll walk down the stairs in them people will think an elephant came into the house.. =)
@ andreas: well, yes. i know. we'll see. i still love parts of the 70s...
@ cathy: oh yes. i'll do my very best..
hi lena, where can you get the mohops? they look awesome!
nice blog, btw!!
@ dotti: tank you =) there is a link in the post to their homepage. they do have a webshop there. other than that i actually don't know. but inetrnational shipping is only 2 dollars.
hey lena, me again, ughh, ahhh, i definitely want them mohop wedges!! they are gorgeous!! shame you can't buy 'em in germany but anyway a definite must-have! thanx for the hint and pic. cool stuff. have u made your devcision yet?
I love wooden shoes! I actually have a vintage pair, but since I took a tumble in them I've been afraid to wear them! I need some with a smaller heel...
P.S. You're linked. :)
amazing collection!!! and the photo is awesome
I really love both of them, just hoping they'd fit my price range!
@ dotti: you're welcome! i don't know yet, i guess i'll wait till i have seen the swedish hasbeens in person, but probably the mohops. my boyfriend likes them a little bit more, and i really have problems deciding...
@ the clothes horse: thank you so much! both the mohops and the swedish hasbeens come with low heels as well, so there's you option!
@ spabeachresort: well, i wish they were mine, but they are not.. (but i'll dream on..)
@ vasiliisa: oh, the pricerange. both are pretty much the same, but if you count in shipping costs then the mohops will come cheaper. on the other hand, i think there must be a shop in helsinki selling the swedish hasbeens (even with lower heels, of course) - check their homepage for more info!
Yup, I have seen Hasbeens at Helsinki 10, but didn't try them on after I saw the price! I should have asked for my size and decided that's too much trouble considering I couldn't have afforded them anyway.
Helsinki 10 is the largest of those stores and they only had one Hasbeens model. So, I don't think the selection here is very good :(.
Därav all förvirring.
Ah wood heels! how lovely.
I agree with someone here who said that hasbeen are too expensive. Its the trend hype.. They can charge what they want and everyone just byes without thinking...
I've just bought a really nice pair of wooden high heels at Scoretto. These wooden heels are a result of a collaboration with the 70s design label Gul & Blå. I have swedish (european) shoesize 35 and they happen to have this size!(very rare size in grownup shoes) So I bought them right away. They are in a lovely warm brown leather tone, and the leather is really soft, not hard and coarse with sharp edges like Swedish hasbeens. I have a feeling it takes some months to "gå in" eller "tämja"= tame a pair of Swedish Hasbeens. I hate blisters and sore feet in the summer!!! Ugly and painful.
I'll post a pic of my wooden high heels on my blogg soon. My camera's on strike...
I think the Mohops look really GREAT! What a clever design! U actually get 5 shoes in 1...
I just love the Swedish Hasbeens Clogs!!!
I have a pair of the Covered Highs. They are so comfy and i like the fact that they are ecological and made in Sweden (that's probably why they are a bit pricey), but i don't mind paying for quality a bit more.
Im definatly saving my pennies this spring, so i can buy for the summer a pair of the orange Peep Toe Super Highs. I'm hooked!
P.S I contacted Swedish Hasbeens finnish agent, to ask about Helsinki shops and finnish online shops. They were very helpful and informed me, that in march most of the shops will start having the summer collection.
I prefer the Swedish Hasbeens.
They just look more like a cool classic. I can't wait for them to be sold here in Finland. I heard Helsinki10,Minus and Unkai webshop will be selling them.
@ lillgull: thank you so much for all this information! i haven't decided for any of those yet as the summer is still some months away. i will try and see if i can find those shoes you featured on your blog!
@ träskor: i wouldn*t go for the covered ones as my boyfriend would aprove even less of those than of the peeptoe ones. so it would be a peeptoe-pair if they fit and if i can afford them..
@ sexy clogs: good luck with finding a pair for yourself! they sure are pretty!
You can order at www.swedishhasbeens.com they ship worldwide and the sizes are normal. Neither big och small in sizes.
