i have the best boyfriend in the world. really, i do. he had to go to england (cambridge) yesterday, on business, and i asked him to buy tampongs and panty liners for me there. and guess what, he did!
now, you probably think i'm totally nuts to have him bring me tampongs from england, but those i wanted are a little special. both little rascal and miriams kafferep have blogged about moxie earlier: they come in very cute little retro design tin boxes with stripes, polka dots and a black bow on them, and even if they probably won't make having your period any more fun at least they look pretty in the bathroom:
half a month has passed since my last post, i'm back to germany, have been at my parents' place last weekend and have had my first swedish lesson for this term yesterday. i have loads of stuff to do and don't know where to start. there are dresses i want to make, books that need to be written, movies i'd like to see... so much to do, so little time!
also, i have recieved two awards, one already a month ago (i'm really bad at responding to tags and things like this) from neniel which made me so so happy! thank you! i will only pass this one on to my friend at mybeautyblog.de, she really deserves it!!
a few days ago i got this nice comment that i was featured on "look 10" and might take the following award for my blog. what a nice surprise!!
now that the weather is really a lot more like spring and the sun is shining i will try to get myself together and post more outfits again..
it's not like i don't have any other skirts (actually, i bought a couple two weeks ago..) but i really like this one so much i just expanded the challenge to create outfits around a single skirt once more. but this is the last time for this week, i promise!!!
leather skirt and belt: thrifted blouse and birdcage-necklace: h&m tights: orsay ancle boots: kmb
i'm not really happy with the ancle boots for this particular outfit, but as i am still basically living out of my travelbag the alternatives were rather limited.. a nice pair of brown leather brogues would have been perfect. in my opinion. well. next week wednesday i'll be back in my apartment in germany with all my shoes and clothes. i'm not sure if i really like the idea, though...
so, even though i took a slow day today i did not forget about the skirtchallenge i'm taking part in. as it was extremely grey and darkish outside i thought i'd need a little sunshine in my outfit. but, i'm still not totally up for spring yet. we've had a day or too smelling like spring, but i also like the winter, at least when there is enough sunshine to keep me happy....
so, this is the second day of the skirt challenge. brown leather, teal lace and my black boots. very happy with the result. tonight we'll go and see laleh play. oh, it will be great. especially after defrosting the frigde and freezer.. my hands are still cold from all that water!
leather skirt: thrifted tights: orsay black shirt: bik bok lace shirt: h&m trend belt: accessorize boots: topshop
i found this nice blog today, work that wardrobe, which is featuring different challenges every now and then. the running challenge is "one skirt three ways" and i thought it might be fun to take part. so, during this week i'll combine one skirt in three different ways. i chose my new thrifted leather skirt as object in question, and here is my first outfit, a little burton inspired for today:
leather skirt: thrifted t-shirt: monki cardigan and leather bracelet: gina tricot tights: c&a, i believe. i've had them for at least 8 years i think... ancle-boots: kmb alice-necklace: etsy purse (my camera-bag, actually): six
both shoes and t-shirt are part of my shopping-for-treasures-hunt in karlstad last weekend:
i just love the print! monki has always such great and inspiring t-shirts... this is the third in my collection!
i have wanted a pair of grey shoes for a while. and also a pair of ancle-boots. those were on sale and i fell in love with them as soon as i saw them..
these businessmen appeared sometime during my second working pass as a volunteer for by:larm at hotel royal christiania where we had our check-in desks. i don't know what they wanted there, but they sure lifted my spirits!
now even this tag that's been haunting the international blogworld reached me: ung farbror tagged me to go to the 6th folder in my pictures and post the 6th picture form that folder. well. the difficulty witht his tag is that i don't use "my pictures". and as i am at the moment not even sitting at my own computer, things didn't get easier.. so, instead i took the 6th picture-containing folder on my portable harddisc and took the 6th picture:
this is the hostel in prague where a and i stayed during our eastern europe holidaytrip 2007. the beds were horrible (ever slept on 3 small matresses next to each other instead of one large one? i cannot recommend it..), the kitchen even more so and the temperatures were not to my liking either. but, it was a lot of fun also.
here is a picture of me on the train to prague back then:
now i'll go and do some baking. i do tag friederike (yes!!) and everyone else who hasn't been tagged yet (boring, i know..)
i got tagged by a new acquaintance of mine, neniel. the task is to take a book lying around, open page 123, find sentence nr 5 and post the three following sentences:
To work in his garden was one of his most respectable pleasures; and Elizabeth admired the command of countenance with which Charlotte talked of the healthfulness of the exercise, and owned she encouraged it as much as possible. Here, leading the way through every walk and cross walk, and scarcely allowing them an interval to utter the praises he asked for, every view was pointed out with a minuteness which left beauty entirely behind. H could number the fields in every direction, and could tell how many trees were in the most distant clump.
of course this is from jane austen's pride and prejudice, which is lying around simply because i am studying it for my thesis.. oh, and i tag lovely dotti in munich where i hope there is as much snow as here in oslo...
some week ago i was tagged by "all this happiness", a blog which i highly recommend reading as it is just wonderfully sweet.
6 random things about me
1. i'm a tea addict. i usually drink one big pot (almost 1 liter) black ceylon tea in the morning, and depending on time, temperature and mood i drink between one and three more pots during the rest of the day, especially early evening. then it will not be black tea but either fruit, spice or herbal tea.
2. when i was a kid, i guess i must have been four or five years old, i was bitten by a huge german schäfer at a friend's birthday party. since i was born i had always had a spot in the rightside region of my waist which was a bit darker than the rest fo my skin. the dog bit me excactly there, making the mark even more visible through the scar. i used this spot as an excuse for not wearing a bikini during my teenage years.
3. giving presents to people who i like can, at times, be enormously important to me and then i will spend hours on finding just the right thing, wrapping it up, writing a nice card - and obsessing on how and when would be the perfect time to hand it over. if i am very close with a person who is supposed to get a present from me, i also have difficulties of keeping my mouth shut about it, but will give hints or talk about having found the perfect gift. and i am always really proud about myself if i actually keep my mouth shut!
4. i am one of the few people who stay in the cinema until the text has gone all through, and i can get very annoyed if people get up and stand in the way when i want to sit and see who was responsible for the costumes. i also get very annoyed if the people who run the cinema turn on the lights before the text has rolled through. and i probably am one of two people in the world clapping my hands at the end of a good movie.
5. during fifth grade, my way home from school used to be really long, and even though i had a bike most of it was going uphill and really tiring. then i started imagining that i could fly home and my bike would find its own way there. ever since i imagine me flying whenever i am bored of walking or biking somewhere.
6. during 5 years of university i have lived in 7 different houses in two different countries. that's pretty impressive i'd say. the result is that i find moving rather annoying now and i wish i will not have to do it in a while.
6 random things i like
1. sitting alone in the cinema watching a good movie.
2. recieving and writing old fashioned handwritten letters and cards. i love to open my postbox and do it almost every time i pass it.
3. spices. a big favourite is cinammon and ginger in fruit sallad. i also like spices in chocolate. chili or rose pepper in dark chocolate, cardamom in milk chocolate.
4. the smell and feeling of new sheets on my bed.
5. gratin. if i could i would have cheese baked over basically everything. apart from cakes and deserts, that is.
6. the mountains.
6 random things i don't like
1. smelly people. cold smoke and cold sweat, especially on men who apparantly haven't showered for weeks. i have a rather sensitive nose.
2. dogs in stores. dogs smell and lose loads of hair, they put their nose in and on everything and some also salivate wherever they go. i am not allergic to pet hair (and i am happy for this), but others may be, and i find it rude to take your dog into h&m where it will leave its hair and bacteria on the clothes which other people want to try on before buying. even worse is people takign their dogs into grocery stores. there are things i want to eat, and i don't want anybody's dog's nose on them! i think it should be a common rule of good manners to leave your dog at home while shopping, and i don't understand why people obviously don't think about these things.
3. noise pollution on public transportation. i do not want any random person sitting close by to decide that right now it is time for some hip hop or metal being presented for the whole bus through their bad quality earphones. also, i do not want to hear other people shouting into their mobile phones when i happen to stand next to them on the tram. and the fact that you can use your mobile phone as a kind of modern juke box does not imply that you have to play the dj for the whole train department now when somebody else would like to sit quietly and read.
4. asparagus. there are very few things i do not like to eat, but asparagus is one of those few things.
5. spiders. it is not a total phobia anymore, but i still have problems with those really ugly big fat ones.
6. people who don't know how to behave in a theatre or cinema. that is, people who talk, throw popcorn around and forget to turn off their mobile phones and generally behave as if they were at home and not in a public place where they might offend others.
now you know a little more about me. oh. when i read the things i don't like it almost looks like i don't like people. i do like people, in general. i just don't like some ways of behaviour. maybe i am too sensitive? what do you think about these issues?
there hasn't been much posting from my side this week, partly because i was sick and had a fever, partly because my favourite person in the world was here and i was spending all my precious time with him.
even today there won't be much new from me, but i found this little test on various swedish blogs and thought it might be fun to translate it (and of course give you the necessary information about my humble self..):

well, i wasn't surprised really, as i do not use very many beauty devices.. i do not think i need to either. i am training my mascara and the eye-shadow and i do like it. anyways, one shouldn't take any of those tests too seriously, and most of the time you'll probably know the outcome beforehands. so. have a nice sunday evening!
i was tagged by my friend kattelinen, and am now going to answer those questions. until now, i have only seen them on swedish blogs in swedish, so i'll translate them into english.

well. now i'm a boring person but i just tag everyone who likes to feel tagged. here you go!
i do like lois lane. and i don't mind being like carrie at all. i mean, who would? and i definitely like like like fran fine ("mr. sheffield!!!"). and i guess a is flattered when he sees i'm most like xena. so, it's a nice mix and everybody is happy, eh?
today i was interviewed live on my university's student-radio "katerfrühstück". the occasion is the student-film-festival "videospekatakel - salzsau" which i organize together with two friends.
here you can listen to today's show. the interview starts after the first three songs.
the big event takes place next tuesday at 19.00 in hörsaal1 at lüneburg's university. we'll show around 30-35 shortfilms which were made by students during the last 2,5 years. there are 5 categories: documentary, feature film, podcast/spot, music video and experimental film. the audience will have the chance to vote for their favourites in each category, and the winners will recieve the ominous "golden salt-sow", so i hope that a lot of people will show up. the more the merrier!!
the problem was that i already had read "the jane austen book club". and i'm like grigg. in case you read it too. i recommend it anyway. warmly. more jane austen for all of us!!
today i went to the gym. i finally broke last terms record of using it 3 times, i've been there at least 4 times now. maybe 5. i actually don't know. what i do know is that i need need need to train my stomach muscles, and what i also do know is that i need to find a way of making this a lot of fun. and what i do remember being a fun thing was spinning those hula-hoops when i was a kid. and isn't the picture telling the same?
