boots for walking
one of the swedish blogs i'm reading regularly, fashionhaggan, is having a really cool giveaway: your pair of dreamshoes by björn borg!
so, those would be my dream pair:

they are called Lorna and would really be the perfect pair of bikerboots for me. rounded toe, not too high in the heel so i could walk for hours in them, a little detail but not too much, just perfect! oh i wish i would win...

grey leather
dream jacket. dream docs. both in grey leather.

the docs are a collab by dr. martens for comptoir des cotonniers. apparently they are only available in france, and twice as expensive as the regular docs. still, they would be my first choice, now that i have decided i want a new pair (since i buried my first pair last autumn..). alternatives? black is boring, i'd get the white ones dirty in no time, leaves a pair of purple ones, dark navy or maybe mulberry? i really wish they had a pair in soft light grey leather. they have one in light grey patent, so a normal leather version shouldn't be too far off, should it?
pictures from somewhere in the internet. not mine.

wooden shoes
i have decided that this years summer shoes are to be sustainable, environmentally friendly wooden shoes. not the classic swedish slip-in ones (which my favourite person in the world can't stand), but a pair with a bit more class - and there are two possibilities:

a) swedish hasbeens. i already wrote about them last year, but i never managed to get a pair. this year they have a new collection of adorable superhigh peeptoes, which look fantastic. and they are being sold in a store in karlstad where i'll be sometime during fabruary/march so i'll at least go and try them on.

b) mohop shoes. they don't have this 70s-feeling as the swedish hasbeens, but they look so much fun anyways! you get five pairs of ribbons with your purchase, and depending on your mood and clothes you can really easily remove the ribbons and put other ones in. if the five sets of ribbons are not enough you can always get more.
the best thing with both is that they will last really long (basically a lifetime) if you treat them well and they are handcrafted locally (and not somewhere in the far east).
both pictures are borrowed from the companies' homepages.

little things
now, while i said i wouldn't show all my christmas presents to you, i thought i'd at least take a picture of the prettiest ones:

the white tin boxes are from myself (i'll store my muesli in the big one and some tea in the smaller one), and the polkadot one is from one of my best friends, vroni. one can never have enough boxes!
the ornaments (the apples and the silver reindeer) are also from myself - the apples will hang on my christmas tree next year (in case i'll have one, that is)!
then i got this fantastic book from my friend and colleague maryann: "the little black book of style" by nina garcia. loads of tips and tricks and i'll sure come back to this one sooner or later.
and: a new pair of shoes from me to me. they are from deichmann and i've worn them on a previous post, but i like them so much i thought i'd show them off once more. i love the colour (lila!!) and their 20s-style.

shoe dreams
i have very strong cravings for those shoes right now. i do know that i need a pair of either ankle boots or at least rather closed pumps which i can have during the cold months now when i do not want to walk around in boots, and either of those two pairs would be perfect, especially as i thought i might train my walking on heels a bit more:

this pair i missed soooooo close on ebay (i stole the picture from the auction). they are by topshop and not to be had on their onlinestore anymore, and i didn't dare to lay too much money on them as i do not know how large or small a topshop 5 is in comparison to a "normal" european 38. the problem is, that sometimes i can have a 38 but sometimes it would be slightly too tight or too lose. usually i would ask the seller to measure the inner length of the shoe for me so that i can compare with my foot's length, but this time i forgot to do that in time. well. maybe another time.

this is a pair by buffalo. they do have exactly one pair left in my local goertz dealer, and this one pair is my size. online at goertz they are sold out already. plus, they are on sale (well, which means they are not overexpensive but just expensive). so i thought i'd gamble a bit. let's wait until next month's money arrives on my bankaccount (which should be on monday). if the shoes are still there, i will have to consider very seriously if they are worth it. if they are gone, well, they are gone. i will probably bite my knee but that's life. it's not like i couldn't find any other pair that i might like just the same.

boots!
finally, my new boots arrived. from ebay. the perfect substitue for my old doc martens... they are a little high, not the heels, but they end directly at my knee. i guess they were made for taller girls than me, but i do like them anyway. they are dark brown, leather inside and out, and they are lace-ups for lazy girls, as they feature a zipper as well...

the heel issue
last week, the suburban queen posted about a pair of heeled boots which she doesn't wear very often as they inflict pain and discomfort. i commented then that two years ago, i bought my first pair of heeled boots and started training, and that now heels up to 6-7cm are quite alright for me: the boots, the red and the black pumps are all around that height. the converse and ballet flats obviously not.

well, yesterday i felt rather painfully that this is only half true.. i am able to walk in 6-7cm heels, but i never said for how long i can walk in them. as long as i use my bike and sit a lot in the intervals between taking me from a to b, there really is no problem. but. when taking a city stroll of approximately 3h, i am still able to walk in boots with 6cm heels (that would be the boots to the left on the picture), but my feet are killing me! well, i guess people usually don't just walk for 3h in the city in heels, so i guess i can still say that i don't have problems with 6-7cm heels...
oh, and i never said i could walk in penny-heels. still training those as well. that would be the black shoes, the second pair from the right, on the picture.
and no - this is not my complete collection of shoes. i am right now staying in oslo for two weeks, whereas the rest of the collection, that is, the larger part, stayed at home.

this is goodbye
finally i am saying goodbye to my approximately almost 10year-old doc martens.
i still remember the day i bought them: it was a cold autumn day, i was fifteen and i had permission from my parents to go to nürnberg by train to buy shoes. i also had a paper in my military-bag which my parents had written, allowing me to follow my christian youthgroup to a band contest where one of our leaders, called Burli, would play with his band "Ångström", and staying there until midnight. this day felt so important to me, and i guess i was really happy. i went to this really cool store, the "British Empire", where they sold, amongst other things such as ben sherman clothing and british food, doc martens shoes and boots. and not only did they sell the classic black and bordeaux-red ones, but all sorts of colours and patterns. but. as i did not own enough money for a pair of the overly cool scottish-tartan-patterned boots, i finally settled upon classic brown leather. they also were reduced and only cost half of what then seemed to be a fortune.

one might say, they served me well. ten years is a good age for a pair of boots, and i loved them. still, i do not like to wear them anymore, they are not as comfy as they used to be, and, above all, taste changes and they are anything but elegant.
i always think it is hard to say goodbye to shoes and clothes, but i also think it feels very refreshing and liberating. especially when it comes to things with a past. such as my doc martens.
